Unparalleled Onboard Service & Hospitality 🤝✨

The impeccable service and hospitality onboard cruise ships are second to none.

From the moment you step foot on the ship, you’ll be greeted by friendly and attentive staff dedicated to ensuring your every need is met.

Whether it’s the housekeeping team keeping your cabin spotless, the wait staff providing exceptional dining experiences, or the knowledgeable Guest Services team helping with all your requests, the crew goes above and beyond to make your journey as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Don’t be surprised if your room steward remembers you name the second time he sees you.

Or, you had wine or enjoy an Arnold Palmer at dinner the first night and your dining staff call you by name asking each night if you want the same drink order.

This exceptional level of service creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making you feel like a valued guest throughout your voyage.

The table is adorned with elegant dinnerware and sparkling glassware, ready to cater to the guests' dining needs. The waiter wears a warm smile, exuding professionalism and hospitality. In the background, the vast expanse of the ocean stretches out, reflecting the serene ambiance of the cruise experience. This image captures the essence of cruising as a premier mode of travel, highlighting the exceptional service, exquisite dining, and breathtaking views that make it a truly unforgettable journey.

Cruise ships have Top-notch medical facilities

Additionally, cruise ships have dedicated medical facilities and staff to address any health concerns that may arise during the voyage.

Rest assured that your safety is paramount to cruise lines, and they work diligently to provide a secure and enjoyable experience for all passengers.

Ship medical centers are equipped to handle a variety of medical needs.

While they may not have the same level of comprehensive medical services as a land-based hospital, they are staffed with qualified medical professionals who can provide essential care and treatment.

For example, only certain cruise lines are equipped to handle dialysis.

Check with cruise line before booking if dialysis is necessary for someone in your party.

These medical centers are typically well-equipped with basic medical supplies and equipment to handle common ailments, injuries, and emergencies that may arise during your voyage.

Medical staff

The medical staff on board can address minor illnesses like colds, allergies, and seasickness, as well as provide first aid and basic medical treatments.

They are also trained to handle more serious situations and stabilize patients until they can be transferred to a shore-based medical facility if necessary.

It’s important to note that ship medical centers are not intended to replace full-scale hospitals, but they do provide a level of medical support and care to ensure the well-being of passengers during their voyage.

Purchase travel insurance

Passengers with pre-existing medical conditions or specific health concerns should consult with the Special Needs Department beforehand to ensure that the medical facilities and services available on the ship meet their needs.

Additionally, travelers are advised to have adequate travel insurance (contact me for a quote) that covers any potential medical expenses or emergency medical evacuations during the cruise.

Lifeboats

Every cruise ship must be equipped with more than enough survival craft, including lifeboats and life rafts, to accommodate at least 125 percent of the number of persons on board.

In addition, all survival crafts must be tested regularly and meet rigorous international guidelines.

“Cruise ships today are the safest that have ever sailed, thanks to the rules, regulations, and technological innovations that govern their design.” Cruising.org

Visit Multiple Destinations with Ease

One of the best things about cruising is that you can visit multiple destinations without having to pack and unpack your luggage every time.

This is a major advantage over traditional vacation methods like flying or driving, as it saves you time and hassle.

When you cruise, you can wake up in a new place each day, with the ship taking care of all the logistics of getting you there.

Taking Steps to Reduce Environmental Impact 🌍♻️

In an era where sustainable travel practices are increasingly crucial, many cruise companies are actively taking steps to minimize their environmental impact.

Through the implementation of advanced technologies, such as hybrid engines and exhaust gas cleaning systems, ships are becoming more energy-efficient and eco-friendly.

New vessels have been built that use LNG fuel.

Carnival Mardi Gras was the first ship to debut with Liquid Nitrogen Gas in 2020 boasting:

  • 0 Sulfur Dioxides
  • 85 percent reduction of nitrogen oxide
  • 95-100 percent particulate matter
  • Up to 20 percent reduction in carbon emissions

How do cruise lines like Carnival handle garbage and waste onboard?

Garbage is handled onboard in a variety of ways.

Some of the most common methods include:

  • Recycling: a variety of materials, including plastic, paper, glass, and aluminum. This helps to reduce the amount of waste that is sent to landfills.
  • Incineration: some of their garbage is burned, which helps to reduce the volume of waste and also kills any harmful bacteria.
  • Offloading: Cruise ships offload some of their garbage at ports, where it is disposed of properly.

Carnival has a number of initiatives in place to reduce the amount of garbage that is produced onboard its ships. These initiatives include:

  • Reducing single-use plastics: Carnival has banned single-use plastics, such as straws and water bottles, from its ships. You can bring your own reusable straws or opt to use one of the provided candy straws.

Safety Considerations

Is cruising safe?

We understand that safety is a top concern for travelers, especially when it comes to cruising.

Cruise lines prioritize passenger well-being and have implemented strict safety protocols to ensure a secure environment on board.

Onboard safety is better than on land

Stringent regulations and inspections govern the cruise industry, ensuring compliance with international safety standards.

Crew members undergo extensive background checks, training and hold certifications in emergency procedures.

They are well-equipped to handle various situations and prioritize the safety of passengers.

Everything from basic first aid to handling heart attack. These licensed doctors and nurses can handle any emergency.

From lost passengers to fire on board. Employees have drills on all sorts of potential scenarios.

Some drills are required to be completed when passengers embark, such as the Muster Drill. Less often, usually during the time in port, all crew practice active drills such as “man overboard” or full ship evacuations, where all crew participates and the lifeboats are lowered.

The new muster process on Carnival Cruises

Children under twelve will be required to wear a green wristband regardless if they attend the kids club or not.

These wristbands indicate which muster station is in bold letters.

If kids are in the club when an alarm is sounded to go to the muster station, a crew member will make sure they safely get there.

Technology for safety 💻

Each passenger has a Sail and Sign card that opens their cabin doors.

When passengers begin the debarking process to go a shore, this ID card is scanned and their picture on files is compared to the person standing there.

When returning to the port area, passengers go through security with local officials.

A state-issued I.D. is required to be shown along with a sail and sign card to enter the port facility.

Finally, when you go to get back on board, your sail and sign card are shown again and scanned, which pulls up your face and traveler information.

What happens if I miss the boat?

If by chance you miss returning to the ship in time, this is also a log of who is on the ship and who is not.

A safety benefit of purchasing alcohol with your sail & sign card is that every passenger is carded.

The ship is a cashless venue. All purchases onboard are made entirely with your ship’s card.

Besides keeping track of your spending and not needing to carry cash, this also makes it possible to I.D every guest.

Underage drinking is avoided through this security feature.

That is not to say that would-be underage drinkers will not find friends or family to supply their alcohol.

Will I get seasick? 🤢

It is estimated that a very small percentage of cruisers, typically around 10% to 20%, may experience some form of motion sickness during their journey.

The percentage of guests who experience seasickness can vary depending on several factors such as the ship’s itinerary, weather conditions, individual susceptibility, and the effectiveness of preventive measures taken.

However, with modern stabilization technology and the availability of over-the-counter and prescription medications, the incidence of seasickness on cruises has significantly reduced.

Motion sickness and how to avoid it

Overcoming Seasickness 🌊🤢

Seasickness is a common concern for many travelers, but there are several measures you can take to minimize its impact.

Here are some tips to help you overcome seasickness while cruising:

Location, location, location.

1. Choose your cabin wisely: Opt for a cabin located in the lower or central area of the ship, where you’ll experience less motion compared to cabins on higher decks or near the bow or stern.

Midship and as low as possible are your best bet if you suffer from motion sickness.

2. Medications and remedies: Over-the-counter remedies such as motion sickness wristbands, ginger tablets, and acupressure bands can provide relief. You should bring these in your travel emergency kit, just in case.

Consult with your doctor or pharmacist for prescription medications specifically designed to prevent or alleviate seasickness, especially if you are elderly, already take prescription medications, or are planning to give to children under thirteen.

Motion sickness medications and alcohol do not mix!

3. Focus on the horizon: Keeping your gaze fixed on the horizon can help alleviate symptoms of seasickness.

Avoid focusing on objects that are moving or reading in a moving environment.

4. Engage in activities: Engaging in activities and keeping yourself occupied can distract from the sensation of motion.

Participate in onboard activities, explore the ship’s amenities, or enjoy the various entertainment options available.

If feeling Ill, ask your room steward what they recommend.

They feel with the rocking of the ship each week and may have some ideas or remedies that you may not have considered.

Cruising offers exceptional value for your money, it’s important to consider the potential for hidden costs that may arise during your voyage.

While many aspects of this type of vacation are typically included in the initial fare, there are certain additional expenses to keep in mind to stay on budget.

1. Service Gratuities: Most cruise lines have a recommended gratuity amount per person per day, covering the service provided by the cabin steward, dining room staff, and other crew members.

Services charges are charged regardless if you eat entirely at the buffet or specialty restaurant and never step foot in the main dining room.
