We’re Mike and Kristina, the couple behind Gallivanting Souls.
We share real travel experiences, honest reviews, cruise and destination guides, local finds, and the moments that make a trip memorable—helping travelers picture the experience before they go.
With more than 20 cruises and years of independent travel behind us, we’ve learned that a great trip isn’t just about where you go. It’s where you stay, what you eat, who you meet, and what you experience along the way.
Our Mission is Simple: To share the good, the disappointing, the unexpected, and the worth-doing-again so travelers can make more informed choices and enjoy the journey.
Kristina: The Storyteller & Experience Seeker
Hi, I’m Kristina—just your average Jane with a suitcase full of stories and a deep belief that great travel should feel accessible, not intimidating or out of reach.
For years, I’ve been the friend sharing pins, itineraries, restaurant recommendations, and all the little details people want to know before they go.
I started Gallivanting Souls to share travel as we actually experience it—the wins, the hiccups, the unexpected moments, and the things we’d absolutely do again.
My travel recipe is “Cruises and off-the-beaten-path adventures—with a sprinkle of unexpected fun!”
I crave immersive experiences, whether I’m holding a sloth in Roatán, trying a local cooking class, finding the best street tacos in a new city, or discovering something I never would have found from a brochure.
Through photos, video, guides, and honest reviews, I want to help you picture what an experience actually feels like—not just what it looks like in an advertisement.
My Goal: To guide you like a friend would. No gatekeeping. No fluff.
Just honest tips, real stories, and experiences worth sharing—so you can decide what’s right for your own journey.
At the helm of our chartered 12-passenger sailboat, Navegante, in Puerto Vallarta. Booking our own tour turned out to be one of our best decisions of the trip.
Mike: The Steady Hand & Unexpected Adventurer
Mike is the steady half of Gallivanting Souls. He’s practical, easygoing, and usually happy to let me chase down the experiences that catch my attention—as long as he knows roughly what I’ve gotten us into.
He may not be the one hunting down every restaurant, excursion, or hidden gem, but once we’re there, he’s usually game to try it. And every once in a while, he surprises me completely.
Take our Panama Canal cruise. Mike, who usually avoids the spotlight, somehow ended up competing in the Hairy Chest Contest. He didn’t win, but the laughter and cheers were a pretty good consolation prize.
That’s one of the things I love about traveling with him. He balances my “Ooh, we should do THAT!” with a little practicality—and then often ends up having just as much fun as I do.
From taking the helm of a chartered sailboat in Puerto Vallarta to trying something neither of us expected, Mike brings his own curiosity, humor, and willingness to roll with the adventure.
Together, we travel differently—but that’s part of what makes the stories worth telling.
At home, Mike’s curiosity often involves an elaborate LEGO build. On the road, it might lead us to a hidden gem we never expected to find.
Either way, there’s usually a plan involved—and almost always a story afterward.
